![]() Entrance to Cromwell is marked with huge monument of fruits. This is the capital of fruit region. I have bought some apples and they were really great. Since yesterday everything looks much different as I already said. Flora has changed a lot, lots of small bushes or trees. For a long time I move along artificial lake Dunstan. After leaving Cromwell there is really nothing except the nature. So the only thing left is to keep pedalling and swallow the kilometres. And of course enjoy the scenery trying to save onto you brain disk all the details. The first village that you can stop for anything is Luggate.
![]() Later on after a small but quite steep climb I got to the airfield, which actually servers ad Wanaka airport, and there are scheduled flight in and out from there. Since I was very keen on taking a chopper flight I could not resist one. To take such flight in Europe you'd pay much much more. From the airport it's about 5-6 km to Wanaka. So it was an easy ride. Wanaka - very much nicer and smaller that Queenstown, not so commercialised, but people are saying the it is going this way and is changing. Bad.
![]() Wanaka is the last place where you can find a bank or cash machine for next 200 km if you decide to go west. You should also buy cheap food here, next supermarket will be very far away from here.
Distance - 60,56 km; Average speed - 17,21 km/h
