Day 3; Timaru (Day off); March 10, 2004
Friday, 07 July 2006

I am resting today. Well not really me, but my knees. Since it was cold in Europe plus I did not have time to practice for too long before the trip now my body is screaming for rest. Plus I am still adjusting to time difference.

Anyway, early in the morning I WALK to town. Bike stays at the camping.

For most of the day I am sightseeing doing quite a few pictures and do some shopping including some protein bars and stuff for athletes.

Today is really the 1st time I see Pacific ocean. Up to know all the time I was going in parallel to the water.

Town looks so much different than in Europe - small buildings, streets look different. Lots of trees and the grass is very green I must say.

Even English is different here their accent is awesome. For example vowel "E" is pronounced more like "I" i.e. normally you would say TENT with "E", but when they say it sounds like TINT.

Weird, isn't. You have to get used to it.

From Timaru I was able to send first pictures and some mails

Night brought heavy rain and was extremely windy. At some points I was thinking I would take off with my tent.
