Day 14 Evening; Calais; August 1, 2003 (Friday)

Finally Calais.

When I got off the train I could smell different air. I was by the sea. Tomorrow England. But still had some troubles in France.

I had a problem leaving the station. Only way out of the platform was through long stairs. With the bike and panniers I could not do it. I had a choice either to take everything off and drag it piece by piece or look for alternative solution. Chose second.

I quickly located the camping. I am trying to register... reception is closed, and there is a sign "Camping Full"! You could actually see that it was quite busy.

But I could not believe I would not find 2 square meters spot for my tent.

I bypassed the barrier and entered the site.

Of course I found a spot, set myself up and started to look around for bathroom facilities.

Oh man, this was something horrible.

Worst camping I had ever seen. No hot water, toilets... no toilets i.e. you could not do real stuff there. I had to keep it till next day.

I decided to go to see the sea...

Got up very early. Did not want to be asked stupid questions as what I was doing there...
