New Zealands Islands
Preparations.

So back I am from down under! And in on piece just as well!

Did not do as many kilometres as planned but still had lot of fun and saw fantastic and very different part of the world. I figured out that since I am not running a marathon of any kind I can just concentrate on things I wish to do and not only think about the distance covered.

Whatever you do it must be fun....

so let's start the diary boys and girls!

Finally the day has come...

I am leaving home around noon.

It's Friday. Everything packed, wrapped and ready to go. To my horror I have so many things that I am not sure if I can put them on the plane without extra charges. My family is helping me on the way to the airport.

Until almost last moment I could not decide either to box a bike or not. I heard so many opionions (actually 2) - some people box it, other don't. Finally I took the risk.

Day 1, Christchurch - Rakaia; March 8, 2004
Friday, 07 July 2006

Did not sleep well, woke up few times during the night but anyway feel better than yesterday. New mattress from Ortlieb is really good.

I wake up around 6 a.m. actually taking off plane wakes me up. It is still dark but I do not want to loose too much time. Shower, breakfast and let's start the trip.

The weather is much better today, sun is trying to get through the clouds and the forecast is 22°C.

By the time I re-packed it was well after 10 a.m.

At the camping ground I met a German guys also with the bike but he was already on the way back to Europe after 3 weeks (just as well)
